Science – The Next Great Religion

About 500 years ago, a new religion was created. It was called Science. Science had always been around, but it had not been regarded as the source of legitimate answers to questions. Answering the questions of the unknown and unexplained was the realm of the religions. Whether it was the mainstream popular religions – Christianity, Hindu, Buddhism, Muslim, Jewish. Or it could have been the now-extinct more localized, tribal religions that we don’t know much about. But when you had a question wanting to know what the sun, moon and stars were, you would ask the shaman or spiritual leader of your tribe. He had the answers.

Science Becomes A Religion

But all that began to change right around the time that the Europeans discovered the Americas. Now science was beginning to gain the control over the minds of the masses. Science was now the ‘religion’ to go to in order to find the answers to your questions. Science had proofs, mathematics, equations, and evidence. They could logically prove their answers.

You have probably heard the debate – science vs. religion. How do you explain the creation of man – Is it the theory of evolution? Or is it the stories in religious texts? But that’s not really the debate anymore. Science has become a religion. It has really become a debate about which religion you want to believe in.

Power Corrupts

As science gained more and more power and prestige through the centuries, they seem to have started to get a little drunk on their own power. Science started to postulate wild theoretical answers. So many of these theories that have never been proven have been accepted as undeniable truths. The theory of gravity by Sir Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein’s theory of relativity (e=Mc2), and the Big Bang Theory have never been proven at all. But yet these three theories have all been accepted as facts. And you are not allowed to question them without being ridiculed, scorned, or being treated like you’re a fool.

It seems like we are expected to accept and believe these scientific theories with no proof. We are told to just accept the theories of gravity, relativity, and the Big Bang based on faith. Isn’t that exactly what science has complained that religions have been doing? It is somewhat ironic.

Scientists Have Been Elevated To Gods

Science has elevated Newton and Einstein to a godlike status. So it would be blasphemy to dare to question them. Your only recourse is to bow down at the altar of science, and think exactly like they tell you to think.

It has gotten to the point where science is becoming hostile when you dare to question them. Very similar to the way religions react when you question them. So go out and find a scientist or a physicist and question them on the truth of the theory of gravity, Einstein’s theory of relativity, or the Big Bang theory. See how they respond.

Recently, I wrote an article about the Flat Earth Theory. I have tried to discuss the facts behind the theory that the earth may not be a globe after all. Pretty much every time, the person I’m speaking with will laugh at me. Even my young nieces and nephews laughed at me. And some people get angry – really mad that I would dare to challenge the great god called ‘Science’.

Never Discuss Religion Or Politics…Or Science Either

An old saying is that you should never talk about religion or politics. People get too emotional when discussing their beliefs. I have learned that you should also include science into that piece of advice. I learned that questioning Newton or Einstein is the same as if I were to question a religion or a political party or political ideology.

Are Science’s Answers Always Based on Facts?

Nikola Tesla was one of the greatest scientists in history. For a few reasons that I’m not going to get into in this article, we never learned about him in school. We have all learned about Einstein and Newton, but very little (if any) about Tesla. I would recommend you learn more about him, what he invented, and the type of thinker he was. He was one scientist who did not go off into theoretical, metaphysical theories. All of his inventions and experiments had tangible proof – not just fancy mathematics. You should ask yourself, “Are science’s answers always based on facts? Or are they based on theories and mathematics that few can understand?”

Beware – science might not be telling you the truth. Learn to think for yourself, and do not accept other people’s beliefs just because they have more power and prestige.

In conclusion, I’ll end this article with 2 quotes by Nikola Tesla that explain how science has lost its way –

“Today’s scientists have substituted mathematics for experiments, and they wander off through equation after equation, and eventually build a structure which has no relation to reality.”

“Einstein’s relativity work is a magnificent mathematical garb which fascinates, dazzles and makes people blind to the underlying errors. The theory is like a beggar clothed in purple whom ignorant people take for a king. Its exponents are brilliant men, but they are metaphysicists rather than scientists.”

Great article. As a Humanist, I have always found something deeply rotten in the upturn that I have witnessed in the world around me since Sept 11th 2001.

It is as if the “Attacks on the WTC” became an epicentre of a war of fanatics of on traditional religion (Islam) against fanatics of an enlightened religion (Modern Sciences).

People don’t seem to realise that Modern sciences (born post 1900s) have become as speculative as traditional religions and ideologies used to be, right before their downfall.

Basically, some Modern Scientists say: “There are evidences, but a “simple mind” like you can’t understand them. Believe what us Experts say and the story will make sense to you.”
How is that ideology different from “Believe what is written in the holy book by the holy prophet”? How does that differ from “Believe what the supreme Chief Mao/Hitler/Stalin said and your life will be easy”?

The ideology of our current Technocracies is all about praising disciples of the God Science that blesses us with Technological wonders(?) such as Smartphones, Ipads, GPS. STEM here, AI there, Robotisation over there: we should worship the engineers and scientists who shape the future for us braindead mortals, right?

The Postmodern world is gone completely off its rails since 2001, and in the confusion and chaos, certain scientists and rational thinkers are feeding up their ego by throwing fancy tales at us, while openly waging a war with theists and philosophers.

My question is: How can we turn a blind eye and assume that this dogma of Rationality won’t be as destructive as religious extremism in the long run?

I really enjoy your comment here. Thanks for reading, and I appreciate you taking the time to write this comment. To answer your question – it is obviously very easy for everyone to turn a blind eye. Everyone is so busy, so tired, and so stressed – they don’t have the time or energy to learn the truth. Most people just believe what they are told to believe, without ever questioning. If people continue to blindly accept beliefs, then their minds are being controlled on a very deep level. People have stopped thinking for themselves – and have allowed others to think for them. So yes, a unquestioning belief in “science” can be destructive.

I say it often, but it’s so important – learn to think for yourself.

I did the best I could to sum it up succinctly, but the answer to your question is long. Feel free to call me or contact me, and I’d be happy to continue the conversation.
