Be Like Water

Be Like Water – And Go With The Flow

What does it mean to be like water? Water can be anything it needs to be. It can remain a liquid and be soft, easy and flowing. Water can crash like a wave. It can freeze and become hard as a rock. It can turn into steam and float away.

Water always wins. It always finds a way. Air does not do so well underwater. It is a little difficult to breathe when you are underwater. Fire does not survive in water. What is the first thing you look for to put out a fire – water. Rocks? Look at the Grand Canyon. A river created that. Go to the beach. All of the sand was once rocks that were destroyed by the action of water.

There Is Great Strength In Weakness

One of water’s great properties is its ability to yield. You don’t always have to be hard and rigid. And that doesn’t only mean hard physically. But more importantly, there are times it is wise to be soft and yielding mentally, psychologically, and emotionally. There are times to abandon the old way of thinking. The rigid and unyielding thoughts may be the things that are holding you back. Learn to adapt your way of thinking. Have confidence in your self – have confidence in your mind that you will succeed. Even if it is a completely new way of thinking. Go with the flow.

Bruce Lee (1940-1973) was a Hong Kong American martial artist, an action film actor, martial arts instructor, philosopher, filmmaker, and the founder of Jeet Kune Do. He once said –

“You must be shapeless, formless, like water. When you pour water in a cup, it becomes the cup. When you pour water in a bottle, it becomes the bottle. When you pour water in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Water can drip and it can crash. Become like water my friend.”
