All healing begins with a change of belief. When you change your mind, you can change your life.
Whatever you believe and expect will happen, generally does happen. Think about it – when you absolutely KNOW something will happen, it almost always does. And it does come down to how deep your belief goes. You can say, “Yeah, I believe that will happen…”, but how much do you really believe it?
I help a lot of people overcome addictions to alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, etc. The main goal of what we accomplish is to help them change their beliefs about what they are addicted to. For example, when I am helping someone who wants to stop smoking, I help them to look at cigarettes differently. Instead of looking at the cigarettes as something that will help them relax, calm them down, or that they will look ‘cool’ and fit in, or just something to do when bored or anxious or lonely – I want them to see the truth about smoking.
I want them to look at cigarettes the same way I look at them – with complete disinterest. No desire at all to have a smoke. I don’t want them to get sick or use aversion therapy – I just want them to see smoking for what it is. The truth is cigarettes do not relax you, they don’t make you look ‘cool’, they do so much harm to your body and mind. We all know that on a logical, rational level – in the conscious part of the mind. But we are dealing with the deeper and higher parts of the mind – the illogical, irrational mind – the subconscious mind. Now I have to be careful about how I tell some people about changing their beliefs. The only beliefs you will change are those beliefs that YOU want to change. You are not going to change your mind unless you want to. The only beliefs you are going to change are the changes that will help you. You are in control. I mentioned smoking and cigarettes before – that is a great example. You will change the way you look at cigarettes, and the rest of your belief system will remain intact.
And this holds true for almost all forms of healing. Fears of flying, snakes – you will just change the way you look at air travel or snakes, and these things will literally change. Anxiety, confidence, sleeping – these challenges can all be overcome when you allow your mind and beliefs to change. Even many physical illnesses will be healed by a change in belief. What is the main benefit of taking pharmaceuticals? To believe that you will be healed.
This is a long explanation, and I probably did not cover it as deeply as I would like. I haven’t even scratched the surface.
